Dr Bruce I Hall | MBBS FRACS CIME

Dr Bruce Hall is a highly respected Queensland neurosurgeon with broad interests and experience in all aspects of neurosurgery. Dr Hall trained in Brisbane then completed subspecialty Fellowships in Cambridge and Liverpool in the UK.  Enthusiastic about new technologies, Dr Hall is a world authority on stereotaxic brain surgery and artificial disc replacement spine surgery.  Managing Director and founder of Queensland Neurosurgery and Spine Surgery (QNS), his expertise is widely valued. Dr Hall is  Director of Neurosurgery at Greenslopes Private Hospital,  Chairman of Neurosurgery at Princess Alexandra Hospital(PAH), and Co-Director of the Gamma Knife Radiosurgery Unit at PAH.  He serves on the Board of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and is Chairman of Professional Standards. Dr Hall has performed more than 6,000 neurosurgical operations and trained many young neurosurgeons throughout his career. He is known for his carefully considered, compassionate and minimally interventional approach to neurosurgical care.

Dr Richard Laherty | MBBS FRACS CIME

Dr Richard Laherty is an experienced neurosurgeon with a special interest and expertise in the use of minimally invasive techniques to treat spine conditions, both simple and complex. He strives to continually enhance current surgical strategies through his innovation and is actively engaged with the industry as a designer and educator. Dr Laherty understands the importance of providing holistic care to maximise patient outcomes. He liaises closely with his colleagues to facilitate comprehensive investigation and management plans. He is Course Director of the Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient courses and Deputy Chair of the CCrISP Committee. Dr Laherty has received a commendation from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons for his educational efforts.

Dr Rumal Jayalath | MBBS FRACS

Dr Rumal Jayalath is an approachable, conscientious, and caring neurosurgeon who graduated from James Cook University with first class honours and completed neurosurgical training at leading centres around Australia. She is actively involved in training young neurosurgeons in her role as Director of Neurosurgery at Princess Alexandra Hospital and with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. She has strong multidisciplinary connections and team approach which allows her to provide comprehensive care to her patients. Jayalath’s practice encompasses all aspects of general neurosurgery and spine surgery, with a special interest in cerebrovascular neurosurgery and brain tumours. She also has an interest in the care of the older patient with neurosurgical conditions.

Dr Alex Koefman | MBBS FRACS

Dr Alex Koefman graduated from the University of Tasmania medical school with first class honours. He completed his neurosurgery training in centres across Australia working with many senior neurosurgeons. Dr Koefman has a specific interest in neuro-endoscopy,  neuro-oncology and minimally invasive spine surgery, and is motivated by a desire to continue to improve surgical recovery and clinical outcomes in surgery. His treatment philosophy toward spine surgery centres around minimalistic and safe intervention. His treatment philosophy focuses on quality of life.

Dr Paul Nichols MBBS FRACS

Dr Nichols completed his medical degree at the University of Tasmania before going on to neurosurgical training in a number of centres in South-East Queensland and New Zealand. After his neurosurgical training, Dr Nichols did further fellowship training as a Neurointerventional Radiology fellow at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, and a Spinal  Fellowship as the inaugural Queensland Neurosurgery Research Foundation Fellow. 

Dr Nichols has special interests in Neuro-oncology, including pituitary and spinal tumors. He also has interests in movement disorder surgery, spinal arthroplasty and minimally invasive and robotic spinal surgery. Dr Nichols also maintains a public appointment as a Staff specialist at the Princess Alexandra where he is passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of up coming neurosurgeons. 

Dr Nichols is compassionate neurosurgeon with a strong focus on communication with his patients and colleagues. Prior to starting his medical career, Dr Nichols served in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corp. During this time he had the privilege of being deployed to East Timor on two occasions on operational duties. His experiences have left him with a unique insight into the challenges faced by military personnel. He has a special interest in the care and wellbeing of military personnel, veterans and all first responders.
